FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What is valeting?

Valeting is the process of cleaning the car. The difference is the quality of the clean. A professional valeter will use safe products which do not harm or damage the vehicle. The results are often better than a hobbiest.

What is the difference between valeting and detailing?

The main difference is the depth of the clean. A valeter will remove certain dirt and grime, whereas a detailer will remove 100% of the dirt, grime and contaminants. A detail will be every square inch of the vehicle whilst repairing any damaged areas such as paintwork.

What does a valet include?

A valet can include anything you wish. It depends on the condition of the vehicle, and which areas you choose to be valeted.

Is it worth getting your car valeted?

It depends on how much you value the vehicle being
valeted. If you do not mind the vehicle depreciating in
value or looking dirty, then there’s no need to get it
valeted. If you want the vehicle to be worth more, whilst
enjoying its nice looks, then is it definitely worth getting your vehicle valeted regularly.

What do professional car valeters use?

There are literally thousands of products available in the
industry to consumers and professionals. A good
professional valeter will only use products which are tried and tested. The products must be safe for the vehicle, and provide the level of finish which is advertised.

Can a wax remove scratches?

A good wax can cover up some scratches, giving the
illusion they’re removed, but in fact they’re not. The wax
puts a film over the scratches, which prevents the light
catching them. When the wax wares off, the scratches will still be there

How long does a car wax last?

A good quality wax can last over a year depending on a
few factors. Things like keeping the car in a garage, correct washing and maintenance, using the correct products and amount of road use can all have an impact on the lifespan of wax. If a wax is added but incorrect products, or bad techniques are used, the wax can be instantly removed.

What does polishing do?

Polishing and paint correction has a few purposes.
Physically, a polish removes a super thin layer of top coat from the laquer. The laquer is where minor scratches and swirls live. By doing this, the paintwork looks clear, deep and extremely shiny. A thorough polish can remove all of the defects from the paint, some of which are even on new cars from the factory.

How long should a full valet take?

This can depend on a few factors. The first is the level or depth of valet requested. The second is the size of the vehicle. Lastly, the condition of the vehicle dictates the time needed. However, a basic valet should take roughly an hour, whereas a full detail can take 2-3 days

Is car valeting hard?

Valeting can be very difficult if the valeter or detailer is
not trained properly. The reason is because there are
many areas of valeting which can badly damage the
vehicle. For example, swirl marks, scratches, and fabric
fade among others.

Does a valet clean the engine?

Yes, if you request it. There are lots of types and levels of valeting. It boils down to what the customer is looking for.

Which wax is best to use?

Firstly, you need to know what you want from a wax. This can range from protection and durability, to water beading and gloss shine. The valeter will recommend the best wax, once the needs are established.

Is it good to wax your car?

Having your vehicle waxed can offer many benefits. They can protect and shine your vehicle, but ONLY if they’re applied correctly. If the vehicle isn’t prepared properly, then the wax will be a waste of time and money.

Is polishing it worth it?

A good polish and paint correction can drastically improve the vehicle. The bodywork of your vehicle is the largest most visible part, so it needs to look the best. A car with nice paintwork is always worth more money.

What is paint protection?

Paint protection is a thin coating which is applied to the
vehicle. Its purpose is the prevent damage from acid rain, bird lime, scratches, traffic film and tree sap. The chemical itself can include ceramic (silicon dioxide), graphene and PTFE.
